Five Game Cutting Lessons: This Debt Ceiling Mess
Lessons in game cutting for the week:
1. Do NOT try to strike a “deal” with an orange looking man who can’t stop sobbing long enough to stop tea party types from taking over his already weak and idiotic party
2. DO pay your child support or risk getting called out for your “fiscal responsibility”
3. Do NOT trust a conservative to ensure grandma gets her meds...

The Men of the Hunger Games on EW →
Between this and the sweet potato cheesecake at lunch, I’m in need of a cigarette.
I can’t wait until this gem shows up in my mailbox.

Beavis and Butthead are BACK!
“This is like a family tree if your family was made of whores.” Butthead about the cast of Jersey Shore.
This really makes my life complete. The social commentary that comes through in this 4:48 clip is unbelievable. Thank you, Mike Judge, for coming back.
ENJOY!

I'm Internet Wife
Internet Husband makes my day mostly because this is what happens to The Mister and me in reverse. He’ll say something and I’ll respond with a meme-like response. And, of course, he has no idea what I’m talking about.
Like this…
I’m pretty sure something like this actually happened a couple of months ago.
No divorce papers have been filed (yet…that I...

Some days I just give up
There are days when I feel like I need to go out there and defend the logical and politically sound thinking in this world.
This is me on those days:
And then there are days when I find that I cannot continue to argue with people who don’t have a base understanding of what is necessary to run a country, a state or a city.
On those days I feel like this:
I’d like to be all...

Lady Gaga Copies Again? You don't say...
There could probably be a Tumblr wholly devoted to the ways in which Lady Gaga copies or re appropriates things into her act (and by “act” I mean her whole persona, her music and her stage show) just to be outrageous. (And there is a great Tumblr about how Lady Gaga is not all that.) So it should not be a surprise to me when Gaga copies someone else.
The latest controversy is...

The Genius of Business Cat
I cannot express how much Business Cat is one of my top 5 memes. Maybe number one. Not even certain. All I know is that the person who created business cat is a genius.
Here are some of my favorites:
My cat Lucy can’t get enough of sitting on paper. If she had a choice between the nicest most comfortable bed and a piece of paper, she’d pick the piece of paper every single time.

"Enough is enough," says Obama...for once
And it’s about damn time. Apparently he’s finally fed up with handing the GOP what they want on a silver platter and is going to make them work for their supper like everyone else in the world. At least, that’s what it sounds like and that’s what I’m hoping for right now.
A few pieces of information on this debt crisis.

Epic Fail: "SAFE" to Burn Books
First of all, your organization is called “Safeguarding American Families” and your acronym is “SAFE.” Where does the “E” come from? You can’t just throw on a vowel for shits and grins. You should just own up to it…you’re “SAF.”
So, this group called SAF wants to get a millage passed in Troy, Michigan, to keep the library...

Why Being Pro-Choice is Necessary for LGBTQ... →
An amazing column by my friend Maria detailing why the LGBTQ movement and the women’s movement need to join forces yet again. As she says…”It’s my uterus now. It will be your bedroom later.”

Et tu, Netflix?
Apparently we aren’t paying enough to get both streaming video and DVDs, so Netflix is going to fix that disparity for us and raise the price. Starting in September, if you want a plan that includes both DVDs and streaming, you’d better be prepared to pay more.
I’m not shocked. The DVD side of the Netflix business model is the expensive one. I understand that. But my...

Google e-Reader out on Sunday... →
If Amazon is serious about it’s Kindle, and I think it is, it needs to offer the thing for free. Knocking off twenty five bucks for some ads isn’t going to cut it. To really stay cutting edge, a more competitive strategy is needed. Like I’ve said for months, offer the Kindle free in exchange for a $75 purchase in e-books. So essentially it’d be $75, but you’d end...

The Justice System Didn't Fail Caylee
On Tuesday, when the Casey Anthony verdict was announced, my Twitter and Facebook feeds went berserk. I had to step away for a moment. Suddenly, people who had never had any legal training in their lives were constitutional law experts. Almost everyone was outraged. “Our justice system failed,” they almost all said. (Most notably, Kim Kardashian, whose own father helped set OJ...

From my 30 Rock day-by-day calendar
“I don’t have a lot of personal life experience. But if I have learned anything from my Sims family, when a child doesn’t see his father enough, he starts to jump up and down. And then, his mood level will drop until he pees himself.”
