Michigan Is Ashamed

I’m a Michigander and I am.  The so-called anti-bullying law that was passed yesterday after being completely stripped of any purpose or meaningful protections is an abomoination.  Instead of protecting those who are bullied, it gives an excuse to those who intend to be bullies.  All you have to do is have “a sincerely held religious belief or moral conviction.”

So…

You think being gay is a sin? It’s okay to bully in Michigan.

You think being fat is morally wrong? It’s okay to bully in Michigan.

You think being a Jew/Christian/Muslim/Atheist/Methodist/Catholic is the wrong religion? It’s okay to bully in Michigan.

You think being a different nationality is morraly wrong?  It’s okay to bully in Michigan.

They shouldn’t have named this law after a youth who was bullied to the point of suicide.  They should have named it after themselves so we know who passed it.  Since they didn’t, I thought I’d let you know who they were and how to contact them.  Maybe if it’s your moral conviction that what they did was wrong, they wouldn’t mind your constant e-mails, letters and phone calls.
